This year marks the 10th anniversary of BYPY – Birmingham Future’s flagship awards ceremony – and the battle to find and crown Birmingham’s most exceptional young professional is well and truly underway.
The awards recognise achievement in businesses across the board – communications, entrepreneurial, financial, legal, property and construction and recruitment and training – and aim to find people who not only demonstrate professional achievement but also give something back to the wider community.
Nominations for all 6 categories have closed (March 1st) and shortlisting looks set to be complete by the end of the month – with the awards ceremony taking place at the ICC on Thursday 27th May.
Today, I caught up with Sonya Bell – who has worked on the awards ceremony for the past few years – and she told me all the background to the awards and Birmingham Future, what winning the award means for young professionals and the business community in the city and why its important for us to encourage talent to stay and contribute to our business network.
I’m also looking to talk with a couple of previous winners of the BYPY title and see what winning has meant to them personally and in terms of their career development and community engagement.
This will then, hopefully, make a lovely piece for Grounds sometime in the next week so keep your eyes peeled at Grounds HQ…
